The Anchorage is one of the few large coastal cottages and sleeps 10 in five bedrooms with two additional baby cots. It is a new building with modern insulation and free central heating. With a party of ten people it brings the cost per head down to competitive levels. The house is child friendly with two indoor play areas with children’s toys and books. For wet days there are over 150 videos as well as children’s videos. There are many activities in the immediate area that do not require a car trip. From visitors comments, the crabbing bridge below the house is a major activity for children. One of the most successful combinations of visitors has been with two grandparents, their two adult children with partners and four grandchildren, or just two families with children. The large patio garden has a BBQ and family evening meals can be taken outside surrounded by flower beds and encircled by trees. The local sandy beach at Sandy Haven is accessible on foot but in summer tends to be crowded as it has a car park. The owner and his family prefer the other local beach of Lindsway Bay, a mile to the west which requires some walking. For parties with young children, baggage and grandparents, the coast path route is too difficult being sinuous as well as with much up and down walking. It is best to drive to the car park at the St. Ishmaels sports field and then follow the asphalted path to the cliff edge. Turn east and a clifftop memorial seat overlooks the sands of Lindsway Bay, and is the limit for the grandparents, while younger members negotiate the steep stepped path down the cliff.
